Our Services

A message from Dr. Marc Spitz
I have been in private practice for over 35 years. My commitment has always been to provide the best care, using the most modern medical technology. The following is a list of some of services that we provide:

The use of medical laser
Our office has two types of medical lasers. Our cold laser is used to increase circulation and to reduce pain. Cold laser therapy is uses to treat peripheral neuropathy, injuries (such as ankle sprains), plantar fasciitis and for wounds (infections and ulcerations) that are difficult to heal.

“Hot” laser, also called carbon dioxide laser, is used to treat and remove certain growths such as plantar’s warts. Carbon dioxide lasers offer many benefits over traditional surgery, since it is extremely precise. In addition it sterilizes the area as it penetrates. This significantly reduces the risk of infection.

Infrared therapy
Like its cousin, cold laser, infrared works by increasing circulation. Infrared increases the production of a chemical called nitric oxide which has been shown to enhance circulation. Infrared has been proven to be beneficial in treating all types of peripheral neuropathy.

Ionotophoresis
This is a unique type of physical therapy that uses a small electrical current to deliver medications below the skin into areas in the body that need to be treated. Gabapentin, brand name Neurontin®, taken orally can have many unpleasant side effects. By using ionotophoresis this same medication can be delivered to the nerves. Since only a small amount of medication is absorbed into the blood stream, there are usually little or no effects associated with this treatment. We use this therapy to treat peripheral neuropathy, plantar fasciitis (heel pain) and tendonitis.

The use of orthotics
Orthotics are custom made arch supports They have many beneficial uses including the treatment of flat feet, over-pronation, heel spurs, plantar fasciitis (heel pain), shin splints, and foot, ankle and lower back pain. We are proud to be associated with Pro System Orthotics, a laboratory that makes all of our orthotics. Pro System makes the orthotics for the California Angels ® baseball team.

Conservative care
Although we pride ourselves in using the most up-to date techniques, our philosophy has always been to use the most conservative care possible. Surgery is always a last resort. Many of our patients require simple, conservative foot care such as trimming of painful, corns, calluses and thickened toenails. These patients receive a great deal of attention from our staff. All patients requiring this service are given a warm foot bath to soften and cleanse the skin. Following treatment, patients receive a foot massage using emollients and skin softeners.

Our staff
Dr. Whitmore graduated from the California College of Podiatric Medicine. He trained and received post graduate certification at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center

Our nursing staff
Every member of our nursing staff has been certified by the state of California. To become certified they are required to undergo a comprehensive in class instructional program as well as 200 hours of rotation in a physician’s office.
